Solution This error may occur because the default settings for encryption have changed in FortiOS v5.4. (-5)" is obtained in FortiClient trying to connect to the SSL VPN and it is stuck at 40% after upgrading to 5.4.x from 5.2. Click OK and try to connect to the SSL VPN. Select it and enter 1 for the number, uncheck ‘ missing device’ ensure only the ISDN option is selected. You should now see an ISDN adapter in the list. If not, check the fortissl adapter, it may say device missing. Once the computer gets restarted the sslvpn connection should work again. You may find that your home internet is using an IPv6 address which will look something like 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334. Sometimes there can be issues with IPv6 addresses trying to establish VPN connection with an IPv4 endpoint due to the required translation.
